10 Creative Things to Do with Camel Coloring Pages

Once you’ve printed your favorite desert designs, the fun is just beginning! Here are some incredibly engaging techniques and activities to bring your camel art to the next level.

Mastering the Glowing Sand Dune Technique

To make the flat desert sand look like beautifully sculpted, glowing dunes, you’ll need to practice advanced color blending. This technique works best with soft colored pencils or blendable markers.

  • The Highlights: First, color the very top edges of the sand dunes with a bright, solid yellow to represent where the sun is hitting the sand directly!
  • The Midtones: Gently blend a warm, sandy orange into the yellow edges, moving downwards to cover the middle of the dunes.
  • The Shadows: To create a realistic 3D shape, carefully blend a light brown or soft purple into the very bottom of each dune where the shadows fall.
  • The Sky: For a dramatic effect, make the sky above the dunes a deep, fiery red or a cool, twilight purple!

Build a Standing Cardboard Camel

Why just color when you can build? Turn these coloring pages into a fun, 3D standing camel craft using an empty toilet paper roll!

  • Step 1: Print out your favorite camel coloring page onto thick cardstock paper, and color it in completely.
  • Step 2: Use safety scissors to carefully cut out the camel’s head, neck, and humps (leaving the legs off).
  • Step 3: Take an empty cardboard toilet paper roll and paint it a sandy brown color. This will become the camel’s body!
  • Step 4: Cut four small slits into the bottom of the toilet paper roll to act as little legs, so it can stand up on your desk.
  • Step 5: Glue your colored camel head to the front of the roll, and glue the humps to the very top!
